Maps

The Map Collection is housed in the Maps/Data/GIS Room on the Seventh Floor, Southeast corner of the Library. The collection contains cartographic materials to serve the diverse needs of the University community. It includes atlases, maps, air photos and gazetteers. Except for air photos, all are listed in the Library's catalogue.

As of  April 2009 - The Maps/Data/GIS Library is no longer a full public service point. Access to maps and other collections will continue to be available during regular hours of operation on a self-serve basis. The Library will continue to provide other services in several ways. There will be scheduled “on-site” sessions for assistance with various databases and software tools; and an enhanced Website to improve online and remote access to the SFU Library’s Data and GIS collections and services will soon be available.

Walter Piovesan, the Maps/Data/GIS Librarian, will continue to provide reference and instructional support and is available for in-person consultation and related support. Walter’s office is Room 7312 located in the Library Management area at the West end of Floor 7. He can also be contacted via email or by phone: 778.782.5869.

For more information on Maps/Data/GIS collections and services, please contact Walter Piovesan walter@sfu.ca.
