The Media Resource Centre (MRC) is located in the Bennett Library, Room 3100.

2. The collection
The Media Resource Centre has sound recordings, videorecordings, DVDs, 16 mm films and fine arts slides available for use by the SFU community for research, teaching and study. See the guides to specific collections for more details:

Film Collection
Documentaries, feature films and experimental films in DVD and videorecording and 16mm formats are available in the SFU Library Media Resource Centre. To find items in the collection, search the Library Catalogue by keyword, title, director, performer or subject limited to Movies (DVDs, videos, etc.) (Search specific collections).
Titles in the film collection can be used for educational use at Simon Fraser University and may be booked for classroom viewing by SFU faculty, instructors and students. To book a film, video or DVD for classroom viewing, contact media booking staff at: media@sfu.ca or use the online film booking form. Media booking staff may be able to arrange previews or classroom bookings of titles not available at SFU Library. See the Film Bookings guide for more information on booking films for classroom use.

Slide Collection
The main focus of the collection is fine arts and architecture, with an emphasis on modern and contemporary art. To find individual items in the slide collection, search the Library Catalogue by artist, title or keyword limited to Slides. The collection also includes slide sets for theatre, dance and music history and Canada's visual history.

Sound Recordings Collection
The main focus of the collection is on contemporary electronic and electro-acoustic music, operas, world music and classical music. To find individual works in the collection, search the Library Catalogue by composer, performer, title, or musical form, limited to Music, sound recordings. The collection also includes some popular music recordings, as well as speeches, plays, poetry and sound effects.
3. Use of the Collection
Media collection materials may be borrowed by SFU faculty, staff, students, alumni and external borrowers for limited loan periods.
Materials may be placed on course reserve at the Bennett, Belzberg or Surrey Libraries. Equipment is available in the MRC to view slides, videorecordings, and DVDs, and to listen to sound recordings.
A preview room in the Media Resource Centre may be booked by SFU faculty or students to view DVDs, videos, 16mm films or laser discs for course needs. The preview room is available for use between 9:00 am and 4:30 pm on weekdays and holds 16-20 people comfortably. Audio Visual equipment can be borrowed from the Learning & Instructional Development Centre Systems and Technical Services.
