Thesis Templates: Open Office Users
Since February 1, 2011, two students have come for help with Open Office (OO). The program has been a bit cumbersome with creating or modifying styles. So though I recommend students use Word (which in fall 2011 is $100 for students via the bookstore), you can use the Word template in OO.
In October 2011, three other students have imported the Word template into Open Office and one has said it's working fine--the other two haven't reported back yet.
It is recommended that those interested in using OO should come to a Using the Thesis Template Workshop so you can see how to apply styles and which styles to apply where.
- During the workshop you can also express any specific needs you might have and new styles will be created for these at that time and added to the template afterwards.
- After the workshop, should you choose to use OO, you will be able to download it from the web and apply the skills you learned about in the workshop.
