Thesis Submission: Deadline Dates

For the majority of graduate students, the submission of your work (dissertation, thesis, project, or extended essays) to the Library (Burnaby Campus) is the last element in fulfilling your degree requirments.

When handing in your work, please keep in mind that there are two different deadlines for you to meet: your Department's and the Library's.

Department deadlines are usually before the defence date and these vary across departments so, early on, please check with the graduate assistant in your Department.

  • Students from all campuses are required to submit by the deadline in order to graduate as of the current term.
  • Requests for special consideration/exceptions/late submissions for students must be directed by the Department/Supervisor to the Director of Graduate Records in the Dean of Graduate Studies Office.

Two copies of your final completed work and all signed documents (as per the 3-Steps to Submission) must be delivered to the Library by the deadlines dates and times that follow.

  • 4:00 pm at the Theses Office (Lib724), via hand or courier
  • 4:00 pm to the Library Management Office (Lib7300), via hand or courier
  • 3:00 pm closing at Library Receiving via courier.

Address for couriers: Assistant for Theses, W.A.C. Bennett Library, Lib7300-8888 University Dr., Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, V5A 1S6 (Phone 778-782-4747).
