HelpDocs: Extra-large 11" x 17" (bi-fold) pages

Bi-fold pages must be included as the last Appendix of your thesis.
NB. 11" x 17" pages are the only oversized pages that can be included in theses--8.5" x 14" legal-sized pages cannot be included in a thesis.

  1. Use the Bi-fold pages template to create your pages.
  2. Create your appendix headings in the file, use the Heading 1_Appendix(es) style to format them.
(and a reminder to add these headings to the bottom of your thesis’ Table of Contents--you can press Enter, type them in, and apply the ToC_Appendix(es) style to all of your Appendixes listed).
  3. You may use the caption styles for formatting figures and tables captions in the file, but manually number them (e.g., Table D.1. as a label for Appendix D and the number of the table).  Tables/Figures in the Appendix will not appear in your lists of tables/figures, which is correct as your thesis should be able to stand alone without Appendices.
  4. The page number is set to be visible where centered numbers land on regular portrait pages—after—you have folded your pages.
  5. Use Insert > Page Number > Format Page Number to correct the page number below to the number it needs to be—that is, so it continues from the last page number in your thesis.
  6. PDF and have these pages printed on 11x17 paper.
  7. Fold according to this page.
