Foundations of Academic Literacy (FAL)

Welcome!

This guide is designed to help you get started with your research.  Use the tabs (above) to find books, journal articles, and additional resources such as statistical sources and citation guides available to you at SFU Library. 

Overall strategy

• Define your topic in a form of a question. What are the answers you would like to find?
• You may want to start with general and subject-specific encyclopedias to obtain an overview of your topic. Check the Background Information Tab to find useful encyclopedias.
• Identify and underline possible keywords, synonyms and related terms.
• Need more information on peer reviewed and scholarly sources?
