RefWorks: Why am I having problems exporting to RefWorks from Wiley journals?
Currently the 'Direct Export' option to RefWorks from Wiley journals isn't working. RefWorks has been notified and is working with Wiley to rectify the problem.
In the mean time, it is possible to export from any Wiley journal by importing your citation as a text file. To do so:
- Follow all steps as normal until you arrive at the "export citation" screen. Instead of selecting "RefWorks" as your export format, select "plain text" instead.
- You will then see a pop-up box which looks something like this:

- Copy the text (CNTR + A to select all, then CNTR + C to copy), or, save it as a notepad file .
- Go to your RefWorks account. Select References --> Import.
- Select the import filter as "RIS format" and the database as "RIS format".
- Either choose the option to "Select Text File" and upload your saved notepad file, or, paste the text (CNTR + V) into the "From Text" box.
- Click "import".
This should do the trick for importing references from Wiley-based platforms.
