How do students who never come to one of the SFU campuses get a library barcode number?
You can get your SFU library card barcode number through the SFU Connect email and calendaring system.
In order to gain access to SFU Connect, you will need your SFU Computing ID and password. See How do I set up or activate my SFU Computing ID? for instructions on obtaining a SFU Computing ID.
Once you have your SFU Computing ID
- Log into SFU Connect.
- Click on the MySFU tab.
- Click on My Library Record.
- Check the section labeled "Barcode & Library Record". Your barcode will start with the numbers "29345...".
From within My Library Record in SFU Connect, you can renew books and perform other actions without having to re-enter your barcode. See Can I renew items, request items, and perform other activities without typing in my SFU Library barcode? for more information.
If you are ever on the Burnaby campus Monday to Thursday 9-7:30, or Friday 9-4:30 you can go to the Registrar's Office, Main Floor of the Maggie Benston Centre to have your photo taken for a regular SFU ID card (which will also be your library card). Note: That card will have a barcode with a new barcode number.
Students Services offices at SFU Vancouver and SFU Surrey can also make photo ID cards for registered students. Check hours for those services on the Student Services web site.
Problems? If you are in the Faculty of Education or a Distance Education course please call the SFU Library Telebook Service 778.782.4896. Otherwise please ask a librarian for help.
