Proposed Library Subscription Cancellations 2009

As outlined in Lynn Copeland's email to all faculty on June 22 2009, the Library is facing a significant collection budget shortfall for 2009/10 and must reduce expenditures.  See the Collections Review page for more information.  Over the last two months, Liaison librarians and Library Departmental Representatives have provided information and discussed specific plans for meeting reduction targets with individual faculty.   I would like to thank everyone involved for their thoughtful consideration of the options during this difficult process.

Each department has reviewed their serials lists based on usage and relevance at SFU.  Librarians have done the same for general lines.  Below is the list of proposed cancellations.  Not all departments are represented as some plan to retain all subscriptions and apply the entire reduction to book purchasing.  Please review the list and contact Natalie Gick (ngick@sfu.ca) in Library Collections Services with any feedback, particularly if a proposed title is important to your teaching or research, by Tuesday September 8 2009.
