Other

Megan: Served on the Monograph Cataloguer selection committee; attended HLABC executive meeting September 17th; attended “Past, Present and Future in Health Education” on September 18th; began planning for a training session on the new Ovid platform for December; was busy with Health liaison responsibilities, including teaching a class on lit reviews a research team at Harbour Centre, meeting with new faculty members, and providing web site suggestions for an undergrad course development process.

Don: Agreed to peer review an article for the journal Collection Management; continued to meet with the CUFTS ERMS committee to discuss the functional requirements and functionality of the CUFTS ERMS, and set an estimated launch date of June 2008 for the database of database portion of the ERMS; Met with Patty, Frances and Gwen to discuss ERMS implementation and how it will affect workflows in Acquisitions—with Frances, will determine a timeline for implementation, and continue meeting with this group in the coming months; with support from Christine, continued work on citation analysis of theses from 1998, 2004 and 2006 to see how use of Big Deal publishers compares pre and post big deals; attended the NISO ERMS Workshop in Denver—very valuable and useful 2-day workshop with much information about ERMS implementation, and provided opportunity for SFU input into some of the ERMS standards that are being developed. In the ERMS world it seems that there are just as many high quality Open Source or locally developed options for libraries as there are vendor products.

Gwen: Completed annual reviews with Don and Megan; met with Perce Groves and Danielle Arcand to discuss library acquisitions and budget support for French programs in Education; met with Mike McIntosh, Karen M., and Trish to discuss liaison duties for International Studies; served on the task group for Burnaby Public Library browsing collection at SFU; began gathering benchmarking data for long term staffing plan in Loans Division.

All: attended regular Collections meetings to hear committee reports and library-wide developments affecting our work.
