SFU Library Quiet Study Areas Policy

In order to ensure a pleasant and productive environment for study and research for all users, the Library has designated Quiet Study, Silent Study and Group Study areas.

Signage indicating these designations is posted on study carrels and elsewhere.

If individuals or groups are conducting conversations or otherwise disturbing others in these areas, please notify a library staff member.

 

Quiet study
  • speak quietly and keep conversations brief
  • no cell phone use
Silent study
  • refrain from talking or using cell phones
Group study
  • discussion encouraged
  • cell phone use allowed

W.A.C. Bennett Library (SFU Burnaby)

Quiet study
  • All study seating on Floors 4, 5, 6 & 7
  • Room 4009 on Floor 4
Silent study
Group study
  • The north east quadrant on Floor 2
  • Group Study rooms on Floor 2

Note: cell phone conversations may be conducted in the stairwells and group study areas.

Belzberg Library (SFU Vancouver)

Quiet study
Group study
  • Room 1070, Mezzanine level - No cell phone conversations permitted

Note: cell phone conversations may be conducted in the concourse outside the library.

Fraser Library (SFU Surrey)

Quiet study

  • All areas of the Library except those listed below
Silent study

Group study
  • Team Rooms 3658, 3660, 3662, 3664, 3666, 3668 and 3670
